Demo: Sidonia rides a stag

"Come now, Johann, don't be a bore, help me up!"

In a moment they were over the fence and he was holding the stag in place, laughing as she climbed onto the animal's back. "What do you bet I can't make him jump the fence?" she asked him. She had managed it on Lord Otto's hunter.

"It's not a horse, Sidonia!" He was still laughing.

She kicked the animal's sides with both heels and the stag leapt forward. Johann jumped out of the way. But as they neared the fence the stag swung round, turning away from the jump. She wished she had a whip.

"Hit it on the behind, Johann!"
